PW Pizza Six Mile Bridge Virtual Beer Dinner 2020

Ernest could not WAIT for this week's PW Pizza beer dinner! His mouth was watering...

Ernest licking his lips

It smelled SOOOO good...

He thought we saved the last piece for him! hehehe

Ernest ready to eat!

As much as I love the salads during these virtual beer dinners, I didn't mind PW Pizza mixing it up this time for the first course. We really enjoyed the Red Pepper Hummus and Crostinis along with the Blood Orange Wit Beer...so easy to drink, definitely a patio pounder. Only 4.7% ABV!

Red Pepper Hummus

The Lemon-Pepper Shrimp Pizza was pretty intense and the Double Dry Hopped Citra IPA couldn't quite keep up since it wasn't overly hoppy. Probably one of the best IPA's we've had in a long time. Only 30 IBUs!

The Chicken Mole Pizza had a lot going on too, with the spice from the mole sauce and red onions. It probably would have been a better fit for an IPA, but we still enjoyed the Irish Red. Very smooth.

The best pairing of the night was the Raspberry Gooey Butter Cake with the Double Berry Berliner. I love fruity beers that are a dessert by themselves!

Where we are quaran-dining in September

As we enter month number six...but who's counting...

September 4th: Trying to keep our pizza quest going, I recently read that Elmwood was switching to carry out and delivery pizza online. We tried three different types of pizza: When in Rome, Supreme, and Classic Pepperoni (for the kids).

When In Rome was too weird for me...corn chowder pizza? With potatoes?

Supreme
Supreme

The Supreme was also unusual...I think it needed some black olives...and hold the kale!

Classic Pepperoni

At least the kids were happy with the adorable, small pepperonis covering the Classic Pepperoni!

Unfortunately, the wings were already sold out.

Note: Order early for a carry out / delivery time slot!!

September 11th: Pai chose La Catrina for their "to go" margaritas. (Someone ordered way too many tacos...yet, we still managed to eat them all!)

September 18th: It had been a difficult and tiring week for both of us so we opted for comfort food: Pasta House. We split the salad while we each had our favorites: eggplant parm and broccoli for me, spaghetti and meatballs for Pai. We also had "happy hour" with my friend on the phone so she could join us remotely.

September 25: It was finally my turn to pick again and I feel very bad for choosing an Italian restaurant, but there are still more restaurants in our hood that we need to support. Pietro's has been a long time favorite for me and their salad dressing is killer. I ordered online using their website and drove to pick it up. There are several parking spots in the back for curbside pickup and the food was delivered to my car mere seconds after I called to let them know what spot I was in! So easy!

Quite the delicious month! I hope you are taking the time to pick up from your favorite local restaurants as well as fit in some comfort food.

PW Pizza Deschutes Virtual Beer Dinner 2020

I got a very biased opinion when I went to pick up the pizza today as the salad dressing, dessert, and The Blues Pizza were the cashier's favorites. I think I can see why...

Another winner of a salad! Poached Pear with a bold, lemon-sage dressing. (There were even Deschutes pale ale poached pears in the salad!) This might have been the best pairing with the Modified Theory Tahitian Lime Agave "bevy". Not a beer, but a malt beverage. Very refreshing on a hot day. Not to mention all natural, no preservatives, and less than 4 grams of sugar.

I really enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan Pizza, but the IPA was way too hoppy. (My photographer forgot to take a picture.)

The Blues Pizza was definitely another winner - prime rib and blue cheese! The Obsidian Stout was way too overboard as a pairing, but at least Patience got to drink that beer all by herself.

The Key Lime Cheesecake was also just as decadent as the course before. Paired with the Neon Daydream Hazy Ale, the hoppiness was able to cut through the thick creaminess of the dessert.

PW Pizza Left Hand Brewing Virtual Beer Dinner 2020

This summer I was supposed to do a road trip to Colorado, and Longmont was on the list...

Looks like I'll have another brewery to be stopping for now that I know where Left Hand Brewing is located!

Oddly enough, these virtual dinners have had the best salad courses. They are large enough that we always have leftovers (or in this case, feed a third person), and always come with so many delicious toppings and  homemade salad dressings.

(Not to mention beautiful cans!)

The Cub Chopped Salad was another winner with blue cheese crumbles and hard boiled egg. I think it would have been better with the second beer, a lager. The Pale Ale, Colorful Colorado, was a bit too hoppy.

The Capicola & Bacon Pizza came with an avacado drizzle, although it was very creamy and we had to "glop" it on more than drizzle. The lager was easy to drink, but oddly paired with a meaty pizza.

The BBQ Chicken Pizza was the best pizza of the two, although we all agreed that we could have done without the pineapple. The IPA was definitely the least favorite beer unfortunately.

The best pairing of the night was the dessert course - Raspberry Satin Pie paired with a raspbery beer - Wheels Gose Round. Another bonus is that beer benefits the National MS Society.

I am hoping I can actually visit this place someday!
