PW Pizza Left Hand Brewing Beer Dinner 2022

Left Hand Brewing is one of the more popular small batch breweries and they have appeared in this series before in 2016 and 2019, as well as an online version last year. I'm also kicking myself because we drove through Longmont, CO while touring the state last year. (And I was pissed that New Belgium was closed the day we were there.)

Anyway, we started off the night with something new, Bacon Cheeseburger Pinwheels. Also new, starting off the night with an IPA. I guess to cut through all the meat and cheese?

The first pizza of the night, The Luau, definitely had a Hawaiian theme with the pineapple and ham, but the BBQ sauce made it not too piggy. Strangely enough, this was paired with their famous Milk Stout in the Nitro can. Ours didn't have much PSSST, so I am wondering if it was a little flat. It's definitely a smooth drinking stout though.

My favorite pairing of the night was the Chicken Caprese, which was totally covered in cheese. The small container in the picture below held the balsamic drizzle that went on top. The St. Vrain Tripel Ale rang in at a whopping 9.3% ABV, but was the easiest to drink of the night.

Since Patience was missing this evening, we saved the Peanut Butter Milk Stout (nitro of course) for her and drank the other beers with a Gooey Butter Cake. You know I added chocolate sauce to it!

I am pleased to report that we've had almost all completely different beers each time, other than their famous Milk Stout, which has made several appearance. Here are the links to the previous versions.

PW Pizza Left Hand Brewing Virtual Beer Dinner 2020

This summer I was supposed to do a road trip to Colorado, and Longmont was on the list...

Looks like I'll have another brewery to be stopping for now that I know where Left Hand Brewing is located!

Oddly enough, these virtual dinners have had the best salad courses. They are large enough that we always have leftovers (or in this case, feed a third person), and always come with so many delicious toppings and  homemade salad dressings.

(Not to mention beautiful cans!)

The Cub Chopped Salad was another winner with blue cheese crumbles and hard boiled egg. I think it would have been better with the second beer, a lager. The Pale Ale, Colorful Colorado, was a bit too hoppy.

The Capicola & Bacon Pizza came with an avacado drizzle, although it was very creamy and we had to "glop" it on more than drizzle. The lager was easy to drink, but oddly paired with a meaty pizza.

The BBQ Chicken Pizza was the best pizza of the two, although we all agreed that we could have done without the pineapple. The IPA was definitely the least favorite beer unfortunately.

The best pairing of the night was the dessert course - Raspberry Satin Pie paired with a raspbery beer - Wheels Gose Round. Another bonus is that beer benefits the National MS Society.

I am hoping I can actually visit this place someday!

PW Pizza Left Hand Brewing Beer Dinner 2019

I looked back in my notes and the last time Left Hand Brewing visited was 2016, so I was happy to see them back again!

We kicked off the night with a Caribeean Caesar salad which had a spicy dressing, but that paired really well with the super light and easy to drink "Travelin' Light". I gotta remember this beer when I'm out! Perfect for summer drinking...

Caribbean Caesar
The first pizza was my favorite of the night since I tasted mostly sweet flavors with cheese totally covering the pizza. The Juicy Goodness, a New England style IPA, was big on the citrus and Patience and I could actually handle these hops.

Sweet Chili Chicken Pizza
The Pot Roast Pizza was a little funky in taste, but it was a great pairing for the heavier Death Before Disco Porter. It was soooooo easy to drink for a porter!

The Raspberry Milk Stout had a big raspberry finish so it's definitely a dessert beer. Of course it was paired with an Almond Lemon-Raspberry Fool. (I had to look up what a fool was...an English custard dessert with fruit folded in.)

It just needed a magic chocolate shell on top or chocolate syrup!

All winning pairings and a great way to start off the new year of beer dinners!

PW Pizza Left Hand Beer Dinner

We kicked the year off right with PW Pizza's Left Hand Brewing Beer Dinner, and most people know them for their Milk Stout Nitro. The Nitro was part of the dessert course, well paired with a Chocolate Fudge Brownie!

The other highlight of this dinner is that we probably had one of THE BEST pizzas ever for the 3rd course: Roasted Poblano Prime Rib Pizza with Provolone Cheese, Caramelized Onions, and Porcini Mushroom Cream Sauce.

We made a lot of noise about how it should be on the main menu, although I'm sure throwing prime rib on a menu would be pricey!

Roasted Poblano Prime Rib Pizza
This pizza was not spicy at all and it really tasted a lot like a Philly Cheesesteak on a pizza! This was paired with the Black Jack Porter, a big beer coming in at the highest ABV of the night at 6.8%.

Jumping back to the start of the night, we kicked off with a Kale & Bacon Salad paired with the Sawtooth Ale. Easy to drink! (And you know I picked off all the bacon.)

As per usual, the Introvert IPA was my least favorite beer, but the pizza paired with it was still delicious. The Chicken & Spinach Pizza was on (my favorite) Honey Wheat Crust with goat cheese, green apple, and spiced pecans with a balsamic glaze.

Now there won't be a February beer dinner due to the Centennial Beer Festival that Moulin Events hosts every year.
